The Grove: Cozy, modern Filipino home

On a Saturday, a family of five quietly spends the afternoon in a lush, green garden that sits near a majestic pool. The eldest boy among three kids steadily maintains control of his soccer ball. The second, a younger boy, pedals his scooter around the great big lawn, while the youngest bursts into laughter, running and playing with mom, exclaiming, ‘My favorite place here is everywhere! Because there is no place like home,’ she smiles. The father quietly looks on, gently savoring this moment into a sweet memory.

At first, it may look like some plush resort. The place has a fully-equipped fitness center, private function rooms, a multipurpose game room, an indoor multi-purpose court, outdoor multi-purpose courts that can be readily converted to basketball, volleyball, tennis and badminton courts, an Olympic-size main pool, a kid’s pool and a 25-meter lap pool, several multipurpose gazebos and cabanas, and a Great Lawn. But this young family is not in some out-of-town weekend getaway. They are right at home, at the heart of Metro Manila.

The Grove’s 5.4-hectare expanse, with a 75 percent open landscaped environment and 25 percent building ratio is uniquely focused on wide community spaces and lush greenery.

In the midst of all the concrete, metal and glass that make up the imposing structures of Metro Manila, there is an undisturbed oasis. Just along E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue (better known as C-5) in Barangay Ugong, Pasig City, stands The Grove by Rockwell, a hidden well-kept sanctuary that gives all the best that life has to offer. It is the first major development by property maverick Rockwell Land Corporation outside Makati. A resort-inspired vertical residence, The Grove is made up of six high-rise towers, all fully-equipped with the best features and amenities to ensure the seamless integration of urban luxury and suburban comfort for a quiet and relaxed life.

Hidden, comfortable nest in the concrete jungle
The head of this young family, Floyd, is an accomplished corporate executive of a multinational company based in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. For three years now, he and his young family have been living the peaceful, quiet life at The Grove. He recalls why his family made the choice.“I work at The Fort and my

We also enjoy the facilities here; I go to the gym frequently to do cardio and treadmills while my kids enjoy the pool, the gym and the garden. Plus, I think the open spaces are great for them. This is really a nice community.” he shares.

His wife, Mei, also mirrors the same viewpoint. “Originally, we wanted to build a home in the South. But Floyd was insistent on keeping the boys in their current school, which was in Quezon City. This is a great compromise; we are very close to both work and school. It doesn’t feel like we are living in a concrete jungle. The garden space is such a welcome thing to have. We have open space here; we can see the mountains. It’s centrally located but it does not feel like a condo at all,” she beams.

For Jacob, Zach and Tara, the three Pedernal kids, The Grove and its open areas provide ample space for exercise and play. The eldest son, Jacob, an inspiring midfielder who has played for both Loyola Meralco Sparks and Philippine Team Little Azkals, shares his fondness for the open space a stone’s throwaway from their doorstep. “My favorite place here is the green, grassy lawn where I play football a lot during summer. Sometimes, I set up a goal and play with other neighbors,” he recalls.

Second-born Zach, who was a student-writer for the school paper, enjoys the jogger’s path walk where he rides his scooter. “My favorite place here depends on the time of day. But sometimes, we hang out at the gazebo at night,” he expresses. Meanwhile, the youngest, Tara, enjoys the wide-open Great Lawn and refreshing pool area.

Fresh air and open spaces
A top-notch residential enclave, The Grove offers an unrivaled mix of 75-percent open and landscaped environment and 25 percent building ratio. In the middle of the metropolis, The Grove’s 5.4-hectare expanse is uniquely focused on wide-open community spaces and lush greenery. Every homeowner at The Grove enjoys the same natural feel, embracing nature while enjoying all the comforts of a modern home.

Aside from the wealth of amenities, there is also The Grove Retail Row, with a wide array of restaurants and service establishments, and supermarket, so that residents need not leave the premises for basic needs and services.

The entire perimeter is kept safe and sound by an array of CCTV cameras, a secure lobby and round-the-clock guards on duty. By swiping a unique electronic access card which is issued only to residents, one can use the high-speed elevators. All these measures provide residents with peace of mind.

“What I really like here is the security. Especially when we travel, you know that you just have to close the door behind you and you will be confident that your house is secure even when you’re away. Security for me is a big deal because I have small kids,” Floyd explains.

For homemaker Mei, moving to The Grove has afforded another privilege, the services of the Property Management Office (PMO), a dedicated unit that ensures everything in the community is working in proper order. “I always tell my friends, iba yung service ng Rockwell. If there is anything I need for the house, like plumbing issues, there is always an answer from the efficient PMO. You call them downstairs and they can help send somebody to fix things for you. It’s so convenient. The PMO people are always happy to help; I really appreciate that,” she exclaims.
