LIVING THE LIFE
OF A YOUNG
Before Metro Manila was formed, Pasig City – before becoming a part of the National Capital Region – was the former capital of the Rizal province. It is located near Makati and Taguig. Although it was originally planned to be a rural settlement with residential and industrial zones, the Ortigas Center is now populated by businesses and other various establishments, leading to the commercialization of Pasig city. This is not to say that condominiums for sale in Pasig city are not available. Actually, the existence of businesses and entertainment spots in the city made developers like Rockwell Land Corporation keener to open condominiums like the Grove. The Grove is a luxurious residential condo in Pasig city that aims to provide its residents with the best conod experience ever.
Ortigas Center – which began as “Hacienda de Mandalayon” – is a 4,033-hectare estate from the Augustinian Order. It is a 100-hectare financial and business district in Pasig, governed by the Ortigas Center Association, Inc. It is home to office towers, condominium skyscrapers, numerous shopping malls, nightlife bars, restaurants, and building complexes! Not limited to Ortigas Center, some of the commercial establishments in Pasig City are Eastwood Mall, The Podium, St. Francis Square, Richmonde Hotel Ortigas, EDSA Shangri-La Manila, Oakwood Premier Apartments, SM Megamall, Robinsons Galleria, the headquarters of Jollibee Foods Corporation, the San Miguel Corporation, the Philippine branch of HSBC, Asian Development Bank Compound, Sinclair Knight Merz, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and the main office of Banco De Oro. The Medical City, a hospital accredited by the Joint Commission on International Accreditation, is also located in Pasig city.
Aside from commercial centers, Pasig has historical landmarks as well, such as the Immaculate Conception Cathedral or the Pasig Cathedral – one of the oldest buildings in Pasig. Bahay ni Tisa which houses the Santo Niño de Pasion is also located in this city, as well as the Beaterio de Pasig and chapel, which is a religious institution built in 1740. The Pasig City Museum, considered one of the best historical museums in the Philippines, can also be found there, as well as the Cuartel del Guardia Civil, which used to be a prison for captive Katipuneros.
